Flossing. Here’s how I finally made it a daily habit.
Hey, anyone can slip out of a good habit. Right? A while back, I slipped out of the routine of flossing daily and that became my new norm. Ugh.  However, as part of my New Year's resetting (and my dental hygienist...
Hydroxyapatite for remineralizing teeth — has it been proven safe? [Updated June 2023]

There is a surge of new toothpastes and toothpowders on the market that promote the use of Hydroxyapatite (HAP) or Nano-hydroxyapatite (nHAP) as the latest and greatest remineralizer and enamelizer. But what is it? And is it safe?

Bottom Line: Synthetic nano hydroxyapatite (nHAP) has not been proven safe. Natural HAP is safe. Neither form has been proven to work better than other natural sources, like clay.

What is "Living Clay”?
Living clay is a very unique type of clay associated with biological life. It possesses some amazing qualities including the ability to undergo chemical changes, both absorb and adsorb (release) substances, and interact with its surrounding environment. Plus it contains a range of micronutrients and micro-organisms. Living clay has been linked to the origin and evolution of life, as it retains information, exhibits self-organization, and interacts with organic molecules.

5 things to share...vol #1

I've been wanting to "hatch" this email series for 4yrs. Today, I accidentally stumbled across this draft I made way back in March 2021, and thinking it wasn't good enough, stalled. So for all of us perfectionists let's remember Voltaire's quote as we strive for excellence — "Perfection if the enemy of good."

How a Healthy Mouth Helps Fight Colds and Flu
Turmeric, green tea, vitamin C, vitamin D, glutathione, zinc, fulvic acid (among others) are all great ways to boost your immune system, which is essential during cold and flu season. But, did you know that another way to boost your immune system is to make sure you have a healthy mouth?
The not so good ingredients found in natural toothpastes

We’ve been led to believe toothpastes that are marketed as “clean, natural and non-toxic ” are healthy and good for us. However, due to widespread greenwashing and healthwashing, you'll discover most are not.

Every ingredient in natural toothpaste should have real benefits with no downsides — and the stakes are high since a healthy mouth is critical to overall health and well-being.

Is Fulvic Acid the missing link to cellular health?

Fulvic Acid is one of nature’s miracle molecules. It is a powerful electrolyte, natural antifungal, anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, and antioxidant, that, due to its small size, enhances nutrient absorption and can even cross the blood brain barrier. It is full of naturally occurring nutrients including ionic macro & trace minerals, amino acids, organic acids and vitamins. But, did you know that fulvic acid is also incredibly high in molecular oxygen, hydrogen and carbon?

Are these junk ingredients in your “natural” toothpaste?

Think all natural toothpastes and toothpowders are good? Take a closer look...

If you look at the actual ingredients in 95% of all “natural” toothpastes they’re not very good. Big money is spent on slick packaging and flashy marketing that highlights the latest, greatest ‘hot natural” ingredient like coconut oil or hydroxyapatite.

Fight premature aging with Black Balm's fulvic acid, the best source of antioxidants
Why are antioxidants so important for skin health? Antioxidants help defend against and reverse oxidative damage caused by an excess of free radicals produced by air pollution, UV from the sun, artificial blue light, radiation/EMFs, toxins from cleaning products, smoking, and alcohol (just to name a few!).
How to remineralize teeth naturally

Your body has a natural process for remineralizing your teeth to keep them strong and healthy.

The process of remineralization and the amount of time it takes is dependent on many factors: 1) the status of your PH/level of acidity and decay, 2) nutrient status of macro and trace minerals along with key vitamins, 3) your overall health, 4) the oral care products you use, 5) saliva production, 6) balanced oral microbiome.

Mythbusting: Naturally derived ingredients are NOT natural

Natural brands rely HEAVILY on naturally derived ingredients — however these are not actually natural since they require a chemist, lab and a good amount of processing (and chemicals) to break apart and create.

Brands do this to make it seem like their brand is “natural” and uses natural ingredients.

Oil Cleansing is better than washing with soap. Here’s why.

You may be familiar with our best-seller, Skin Fuel.  It is truly a multi-tasker - a 100% natural moisturizer for face, body, hair, beard, and after-shave, but did you know it works really well for cleaning your skin too?

Here's what makes oil cleansing so good...

    Why we're not EWG certified

While we started the certification process with EWG, they would not accept Calcium Montmorillonite Bentonite Clay, a key ingredient in our Mineral Toothpowder. Like many fruits and vegetables, bentonite clay contains minute, trace amounts of naturally occurring heavy metals.

Why adrenal support is so crucial — and how Dr. Wentz can help.
Adrenal fatigue is more common than you think and can really negatively impact your life. Last week, I got an email from a friend and colleague, Dr. Izabella Wentz (aka The Thyroid Pharmacist) an expert in adrenals & related diseases. Recently, I’ve sensed my adrenals getting taxed and the timing of this email was uncanny...

What are “naturally derived” ingredients and how do they compare to ingredients that are actually natural?

"Natural", “naturally occurring”, "naturally derived" or "plant-derived". What is the difference? There is no legal definition for these terms. And unfortunately, it is hard to know exactly how “natural” these types of ingredients and products are.
