CALCIUM Montmorillonite BENTONITE CLAy

Quality Standards

Edible/Therapeutic/Food grade. Certified GRAS. Unrefined and non-irradiated, "living clay". Not chemically processed, heat treated or "cleaned" in any way. Mined in USA from ancient underground deposits.

Ingredient Benefits

Rich in bioavailable minerals, including calcium, magnesium, potassium, phosphorous, sulfur, silica, and zinc, all beneficial to teeth and gums (supporting the remineralization process), and every bodily function. Mildly abrasive to gently polish, clean, and whiten teeth. Binds with heavy metals, toxins, and some harmful bacteria to help remove them from the body. Contains beneficial bacteria to support healthy biomes - oral, skin and gut.

For internal use: Make some "earth milk" - mix 1 part clay to 8 parts of purified water — shake well (in a glass jar) until it is mixed (no lumps) or pop it in the blender for 5 seconds then transfer it to a jar with a lid. Start drinking 1 oz of earth milk, then move to 2 oz. After consuming, drink an 8 oz. glass of water.

As a baseline for health, we recommend taking 2 oz of "earth milk" daily to support detoxing and remineralizing. Tip: Make a weekly batch - 1/4 c clay with 2 cups of purified water - keep it in a glass jar (plastic top) on the counter and drink it every day (it won't go bad). Give it to your pets too! (1 tsp, depending on weight).

For external use: Mix 2 - 3 parts clay to 1 part water (or other liquid, eg. colloidal silver if you are addressing an infection, or rose hydrosol if you are making a mask for your face) in a glass jar to make a paste; — adjust as needed for desired consistency. Use it as a mask or poultice anywhere on your body. Apply and let sit for 15-20 minutes before rinsing off.

Tip: Keep clay hydrated (with water or a hydrosol) while it is on your skin if you want to avoid skin drying out too much. Apply Skin Fuel or other moisturizer after using.

You can also use it dry, on the skin, or in the mouth (as toothpaste or a poultice).

For a concentrated heavy metal detox — drink 2 oz of liquid clay ("earth milk" recipe above) 2x a day, and do a clay bath at least 2x a week (use 2 cups of clay in a full bath). Do this for 2 weeks or longer. Consult with your physician for an exact protocol. It is recommended to get tested for heavy metals before starting.

Here is a simple manual for using Living Calcium Bentonite internally and externally, written by the author of “Living Clay, Nature’s Own Miracle Cure”, Perry A.`

When sourcing a clay to use for Mineral Toothpowder our research led us to this powerful living clay. Not only does it provide important macro minerals to the body by its adsorptive qualities (eg calcium, magnesium - important for every human function), it can trap toxins (absorption - it can draw 33 times its molecular weight) - not just the bad bacteria that can cause imbalance in the mouth, it can also grab pathogens, parasites, and heavy metals due its strong negative charge (that attracts and binds positively charged ions, eg. impurities) - the clay molecule is incredible!

We also wanted the highest quality, most pristine source, in the USA, and a true “living” clay - direct from nature, unadulterated, pure, and crystalline. Because our body is electrical, made up mostly of water, working with a crystalline substance in and on our body has other benefits too (more on the body's electric and quantum physics later).

Living Clay (calcium montmorillonite) is a superfood, akin to breast milk, fulvic acid, mushrooms, bee pollen, etc. - the exact composition and mechanisms are not completely known or understood which is why it is impossible to replicate in a lab - they are an entity unto themselves - mother nature’s miracles.

We strive to offer a cost-effective solution for individuals facing financial difficulties and who may not be able to afford our Mineral Toothpowder. Although our Mineral Toothpowder offers superior care, Living Clay offers a good alternative and allows people to steer clear of all the toxic / bad / cheap filler ingredients commonly found in commercial toothpaste.

Q: Does living clay contain heavy metals?

A: All clays (like fruits & vegetables) may contain some naturally occurring heavy metals. This kind of clay naturally binds to heavy metals so if any are present in the clay itself they can’t be absorbed by our bodies.

In addition, living clays will bond to heavy metals it comes across in the body and helps remove them.

In general, calcium montmorillonite bentonite clay is believed to be low in heavy metals, but it can vary depending on the specific source and processing methods.

Our living clay comes from a pristine, underground vein in California (so not exposed to environmental toxins like heavy metals coming from air and rain.)

Q: Is Living Clay a good toothpaste for toddlers — and pets?

A: Yes, it is! Most healthcare professionals advise that children under 2 yrs old are not exposed to essential oils. And vets advise avoiding essential oils for pets. This is one of the same clay used in our Mineral Toothpowder.

Q:Does the clay have a laxative effect like some other detoxers?

A: No. In fact it could have the opposite effect and cause minor constipation due to the fact it is such a powerful swelling agent. However, drinking plenty of water should eliminate any potential constipation.

Q: What about “denatured” clay? (sanitized, irradiated, pharmaceutical grade) — are they more pure, and safer to use?

A: There is a misconception that sanitized (what we’ll refer to as denatured clay), is better, more “pure” and preferred for use in personal care. For people that want a product free of any bacteria (good or bad), scrubbed of metals (bad and good e.g. copper, silver, etc), and altered in its crystalline, molecular structure, then yes, it is technically more “pure”.

Denatured clay can still swell and absorb toxins (although not quite as effectively), and is safe to use externally and internally. However, its use and effectiveness are more limited since it is inert (more like mud).

Most clays on the market are denatured.

If a clay is processed in this way it may be from a contaminated source or a deposit that has been exposed to the environment. OR it is a clay brand that is looking for FDA seal of approval for internal use. Keep in mind many things many of us feel are safe (like properly handled raw dairy) are not approved by the FDA. The FDA will only give approval if the clay had been denatured.

Regarding calcium bentonite clay specifically, if it is denatured (now a pharmaceutical-grade product) it is no longer a living clay.

Side Note: In the world of cosmetics and personal care production, products and formulations require preservation.

That means no or low bacteria (platelet) count. Therefore, the ingredients used are sanitized, refined, and/or naturally derived. These products also use synthetic preservatives to curb bacterial growth and extend the shelf-life. This is particularly true of any products that contain water (since water brings life to most bacteria). In other words, most products on the market are inert so they are considered “safe”. Unfortunately these “safe” products, with preservatives, negatively affect the microbiome along with losing the beneficial bioactive qualities.

Q: What is the difference between calcium bentonite and sodium bentonite clay?

A: Even though Sodium Bentonite and Calcium Bentonite Clay are cousins from the same family genesis, they are different in efficacy and intended uses.

Sodium Bentonite (montmorillonite)’s primary ion is Sodium (Na). It has a much greater swelling capacity than Calcium Bentonite, which is why it is not used/taken internally. It is used extensively in industrial applications.

Q: Is calcium montmorillonite the same as calcium bentonite, and what is it exactly?

A: They are basically the same thing. Calcium bentonite clay with more montmorillonite might be called Calcium Montmorillonite, but it is technically a calcium bentonite clay of the montmorillonite/smectite group.

Montmorillonite clays are the result of volcanic ash that was naturally deposited in seawater.

A more specific name for the Living Clay could be Green Desert Clay (since it is from a desert area and has a greenish hue) but it should not be confused with French Green Clay, which is an illite clay, not bentonite, and should not be taken internally.

The scientific classification / generic description is: Hydrated Sodium Calcium Aluminum Magnesium Silicate Hydroxide

Clear as mud, right?

Q: How should I store the Living Clay?

A: For optimal preservation, store The Living Clay at room temperature in a dry location. We advise maintaining it in its original packaging or transferring it to an airtight container to ensure its longevity.

To maximize its lifespan, consider storing the clay in a glass jar equipped with a non-metallic lid; when stored under these conditions, it can remain viable for a decade or more. Ensuring the clay is kept in a dry, temperate area within a cabinet and remains uncontaminated will prevent it from expiring.

For storage periods extending beyond six months, a glass jar is recommended to fully safeguard against moisture. Avoid storing the clay in containers made of metal.

IMPORTANT: Consult your physician before beginning any supplement including edible clay. Do not ingest within 2 hrs of taking prescription drugs. If your skin is highly sensitive, do a patch test first. Keep out of reach of children. Don’t inhale powder.

Q: Does the Living Clay expire?

A: If the bag is unopened, the expiration date is typically 2 years, but if it is stored well (cool, dry) it can last longer since it is a dry powder.

“Living clay is like raw milk – unprocessed and loaded with bioactive nutrients.” — Vince Cobb co-founder

The amazing benefits of Living Clays.

Living clay is a very unique type of clay associated with biological life. It possesses some amazing qualities including the ability to undergo chemical changes, both absorb and adsorb (release) substances, and interact with its surrounding environment. Plus it contains a range of micronutrients and micro-organisms. Living clay has been linked to the origin and evolution of life, as it retains information, exhibits self-organization, and interacts with organic molecules.

Living clays are a rare category among the various clays found in nature. However, many clays that could potentially be classified as living clays have undergone denaturation. Denaturation takes place during clay processing through methods such as heat, radiation, washing, and more. As a result, denatured clay loses a significant portion of its bioactivity and can no longer be considered a "living clay." This term is often misunderstood and is commonly associated with clays like Calcium Bentonite, which possess transformative properties.

With a negative charge, Living clays have the ability to attract and trap positively charged ions, bad bacteria, and heavy metals so they are safely removed from the body. These, along with It releasing minerals and other nutrients are a few of living clays' greatest known benefits.

Are there heavy metals in Living Clay and Mineral Toothpowder? Are they safe (can't be absorbed)? Read more here.

Do you live in California? Please read the statement below. While we love the idea of Prop 65, we are not fans of how the law was written - when it comes to natural substances, it promotes ignorance vs. knowledge.

As required by the State of California, so that we can legally sell this product to residents of that state, we must put the following language on our site: California Proposition 65 WARNING: This product contains a chemical known to the State of California to cause cancer, birth defects or other reproductive harm.

This is because one of the ingredients we use, Bentonite Clay, can have low levels of heavy metals in it. Sounds scary, right? However, the naturally occurring (organic) heavy metals in clay are molecularly bound to clay particles – meaning they are not bioavailable, and can’t be absorbed.

Clay is powerful stuff. Its positively charged ions bind to heavy metals so that they are contained and expelled rather than absorbed by our bodies. In fact, one of bentonite clay’s many therapeutic uses is to consume orally to remove heavy metals from your body – a process called “chelating”.

Prop 65 is a law with good intentions but with major flaws. For example, Prop 65 limits for lead are so low, almost all plant foods (eg. green beans, spinach, avocados, etc.) contain amounts higher than allowed by this law, but they do NOT carry the warning.

Furthermore, eating the USDA-recommended 3 – 5 servings of vegetables could expose you to 10X the maximum allowed by Prop 65. (In fact, 1 serving of our toothpaste has less lead than 1 serving of many plant foods.)

In addition, Prop 65 does a poor job of clearly exempting items like clay where heavy metals are in an organic, bound, non-bioavailable form -- and many are pushing for reforms to Prop 65.

So, remember these 2 important points: 1) Heavy metals in bentonite clay are not bioavailable and cannot be absorbed, 2) bentonite clay helps remove heavy metals from your body.

We believe our Living Clay is 100% safe for ourselves, our family, and you.

Loving that healing clay!

I recently bought the healing clay to give it a try. My face is so sensitive to products so I was nervous to try it as a mask. But I have to say it’s wonderful! It left my skin feeling so clean and refreshed. I also noticed my complexion already looks better. Another great product from Akamai! ❤️

Love this stuff! The powder is super light

Why did I get insert directions for something I didn’t even buy, and no insert instructions for the product I did buy. Also, the packaging for the clay is very squished and all wrinkled, like the bag has been through some rough shipping.

Honestly though an insert about the product i actually purchased would have been more beneficial.

My husband has had major digestive issues like not wanting to eat for about 4 years now since getting severe food poisoning from salmon. He took this this afternoon and has actually wanted to eat! I’m fairly impressed. We will be using this as a parasite detox along with the other health benefits. Thank you Sara Jean for the referral.
